Sweet summertime is upon us everyone! That means longer days and soaking in some sun! (With the appropriate sunscreen of course). And with that means time for a new swimmie or two. But we aren’t all made of money, I know I’m not! But how do you know if those cheap swimsuits you’re getting ad targeted for on Instagram are worth it? I took the chance for all of us and ordered 10 swimsuits from Shein.com for a total of $100. In this post I’ll be sharing the good and bad on what these $10 a pop swimmies are worth.
How did I come to order 10 swim suits anyway?
Shin.com. If you are a female with a social media account there is a 1,000,000% chance you have seen an ad from them. I am guilty of clicking on them scrolling around a bit but never really ordering because, and I may be in the minority, I don’t love online shopping very much. It stresses me out some and I am super into instant gratification so I love to shop in stores. But even at Target a bikini ends up costing around $30-$40 a set (two pieces) and that adds up quickly. That’s why up until I did this, I owned 3 swimsuits that I collected over the last 3 years. Yep, I bought only one new suit a year.
It was the perfect storm honestly: I already knew the suits were cheap, the website had a promotion going on (15% off + free expedited shipping), and my friend was there encouraging me to do it. I loaded up my cart with 10 swimsuits and 9 days later, they were in my mailbox. Here are my 10 swimsuits and what I thought of them.
All swimmies are linked through their picture. I am using their stock photos as I was not totally comfortable with taking pictures of me just standing there in a swimsuit, especially for the few that didn’t fit right. Thanks for understanding!
1. Marble Print
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: This is perhaps the most on-trend printed suit I ordered. It is an awesome set that I have already worn several times. The bottoms have moderate coverage and the top has a pull-on design. It feels very secure and sporty, like I could go play beach volley-ball in it. The appearance is true to the photo.

2. Pastel Stripes
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: This swimsuit made me the most sad that it didn’t work out. The top is another pull on and fits well, while the bottoms were entirely too small. I managed to pull them on after hearing a couple seams pop. If I could go back I would order the medium. I may still do that as I adore the colors. If you love pastels as much as I do, I recommend sizing up!

3. Crisscross Top with Printed Bottoms
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: I had been wanting to try out a top like this for a couple years now. Normally I am not a fan of swimsuits that tie but everything has an exception. The top is amazing and is so flattering on. You can see it in action on my Instagram! Another testament to how important it is to be able to order tops and bottoms separately, theses were too snug for my liking, giving me the dreaded “double butt”. Not a big deal though as the suit was already a mix of solid and print, I happily paired the top with some other bottoms that do fit!

4. Sunflowers
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: I love this print that is so prevalent in a lot of these online only shopping platforms. So when I saw this suit I knew I had to have it. The colors are just as vibrant in person! The top is great with the bottoms a little more cheeky than I like, so I am still working out how I’m going to wear this one.

5. Lemon and Stripes
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: Possibly my favorite from the haul. The top is a pull on style with that cute tie front detail that can be removed for a more scoop neck appearance. The bottoms are slightly high waisted with moderate bum coverage. Great for lounging or hitting a water park. And while there was a pink striped option with this print, I thought the blue was more fresh and summer appropriate. And we all know how much I love lemon print.

6. Dalmation Dot
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: A front tie swimsuit where the tie is actually functional? What an idea! The appearance is as it appears in the photo and is double lined as you can see so it does not become see through in the water. The fit is very similar to that of the sunflower suit with the top fitting wonderfully and the bottoms on the edge of my comfort zone.

7. Palm Fronds
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: I love that the palm frond print is still very much here. It is one of my faves that I have talked about before. The bottoms have moderate coverage and are high waisted. They also pair perfectly with my pink criss-cross top. This top is adorable as part of the ensemble as well as with some high-waisted denim shorts to go grab lunch! The only fault here is the same gripe I have for other off the shoulder items and that is limited movement of your arms. But for this look that’s a sacrifice I am willing to make.

8. Patriotic Stripes
Size: Small
Price: $13.00
Thoughts: This was the last item I added to my order as a way to qualify for the special and something to get me to branch out. Colors? Great. Top? So cute. Bottoms? Not ready yet lol. The high waisted is nice, I’m just not ready to embrace the high leg or the booty-ness of this swimmie.

9. Pink Stripes
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: This couldn’t be a ‘me’ haul with out something entirely pink! Here we have Anotha’ One (DJ Khaled voice) with a pull on top and front tie decoration. Can you tell I have a favorite style? I have worn this one frequently, it fits TTS with moderate bum coverage. Top is comparable to the lemon print suit while the bottoms are similar to the marble print one.

10. Watermelon
Size: Small
Price: $12.00
Thoughts: How can you not love something so quintessentially summer? This suit is so cute and I always get compliments on it! It fits just a tad big but is made up for in the fact that this tie front is functional so I can just tighten it up a bit. The bottoms have more coverage than the picture suggests falling somewhere between moderate and cheeky. Hands down my favorite suit on overall aesthetic.

Final Thoughts on Buying Swimwear from Shein
I say give it a go! Try to read reviews on the products’ page and pay closer attention than I did to the sizing. The measurements might not always be accurate but at least it will give you a ballpark of where you’re at. I would also suggest waiting until they have some sort of special and order a few items so you have a better chance of something working out. As with all online shopping it can be a bit of a gamble, these items a little more so as they do not accept returns on swimwear. Which I for one am grateful for that!
Have you ever ordered anything from Shein? I would love to hear your thoughts through a comment or drop a link to a review of your own!
Until next time fab friends! Thank you for reading!
