Although summer has not officially started, we here in South Carolina are already feeling the heat. As such I am already all about the summer’s trends. Although started last summer, the palm frond print is still building momentum for this summer as well. And I. Am. Here. For. It.
~Quick back story on my shooting location.~ Something to know about me is that I love plants. I don’t tend to do well when I own them, but if you have a nice garden just know I am wanting to become friends with you so that I can check it out sometime. So when I remembered that our local zoo was not only a zoo but also a garden I could not wait until my next visit to see the gardens. They did not disappoint! (If you are close to the area and have never checked out the gardens are Riverbanks, you totally should). So when I wanted to do a post about about my palm-print dress I knew I wanted to shoot it here.
I got this dress last year to wear it to one of my brother’s many end of senior year programs. I was unpacking shipment at work when I first saw this dress and knew it had to be mine. I love the cool, crispness of the greens used in this pattern as it complements my fair complexion. The neckline is different from any other dress I own but is so fun and very easy with the addition of a bandeau underneath. There is a subtle A-line shape to the dress so that I am neither constricted nor swimming in fabric.
While I wore this to my brothers senior night, I ended up not wearing this dress much else last summer. Cue a near re-discovery this spring as the weather started warming up and I could think about wearing sundresses again. It is my plan to wear it much more this summer. I am slowly but surely moving away from the mentality that dresses are only for occasions. Everyday is an occasion! It is okay to dress up even if there are no plans! I have found that on days where I have nothing going on, if I simply get a little more dressed up than a t-shirt and athletic shorts, I will do more with my day. And with the palm frond print of this dress in particular I even feel ~tropical~.
I accessorized my look with stackable rings and light green statement earrings. The shoes I am wearing here are some of the most comfortable wedges I have ever owned and will not doubt be making many more appearances throughout the rest of the season.
What do you think of the palm print trend? Let me know in the comments below! Xoxo,
Unfortunately, like I said, I did get this dress a year ago, and try as I might, I cannot find it anywhere online for y’all, so in its place I have rounded up some of my favorite palm-print items from around the web, a few I will most definitely be purchasing this summer!
