Father’s Day Gift Guide

Dad and me in Las Vegas

Father’s Day. A day to celebrate dad. For me, I always want to go above and beyond for my dad, but he is so low-key and says he doesn’t want anything. This leads to a good bit of stress on me the closer father’s day gets. I purposed to do better this year and thought I would document my favorite items to help out a fellow favorite child keep their spot. 😉

You don’t have to break the bank getting something great for dad. And if you have siblings to coerce into sharing the price of your chosen gift, all the better!

Wether they are success stories from years past or new items I have found this year, there should be something for most every Dad and most every budget! Here are some of my top picks: (Hey dad, no peeking!)

p.s. some of the links (the amazon ones) are affiliates, meaning if you buy, I’ll get a little cut. Thanks for supporting!

  1. A Watch

You don’t have to spend a ton to get a smart-looking fully functional watch. Unless you want to, then spring for that Rolex, but ya girl doesn’t have that kind of money. There is a watch out there for all styles of dads: Sporty? Ironman. Outdoorsy? G-shock. Techy? Apple. Everyday-Snappy-Casual? Fossil. You get the point. My personal pick is a Fossil, I think this is perfect for everyday, and will go with any outfit!

2. An Item from His Alma-Mater

My dad loves The University of South Carolina Gamecocks. Several years ago, ON Father’s Day, my brain finally decided to work and my mom and I made a quick trip out to the mall where I got him this Columbia PFG shirt in Carolina garnet and even embroidered with the fighting Gamecock (can you tell it’s my alma-mater too? lol). He still wears it. I’m talking I got this for him before I went to college, so that’s at least 4 years now. All that to say, he loves it, he wears it, what more can you ask for? Wether it’s a shirt, a jacket, a hat, or a Yeti tumbler, everything is improved with the addition of a college logo.

3. Ninja Blender

This can get a little pricy, I won’t lie. That’s when the sibling thing comes in handy. My dad loves to make protein shakes when he’s on a health kick, and fruit smoothies on the reg. The ninja has been awesome handling big ice cubes over and over again + the personal sized one we got ensures that you don’t end up with lots of extra smoothie that’s bound to get gross in the fridge.

4. Go Dapper with a Monogram

Monograms don’t just have to be for the ladies. Stick with a classic, no-nonsense font, and of course, a manly item, BAM! great gift that he will always know is his. Etsy is awesome for things like these, but also check your local gift, jewelry, or trophy shop as they will be able to help you get exactly what you want within the 2 week time frame we’re working with.

5. Bluetooth Speaker

Does you dad go on and on about how the ’80s were and always will be the greatest music era? Have you found yourself somewhat trapped at the computer as he shows you Van Halen’s “Jump”, Guns and Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle”, and David Allen Coe’s “You Never Even Called Me by My Name”? Even when you’ve assured him that you have heard these songs before? Let him share his impeccable music taste with everyone and have spontaneous sing-alongs at home with the gift of a bluetooth speaker. You know the deal, they come in several offerings, I’m linking a couple just to get your search started.

6. Skin Care

I know, it sounds risky, but hear me out. You can go with just some shave care items or nudge him toward a (somewhat) full routine. Maybe throw in a cheeky card about “you aren’t getting any younger” but I’ll leave that up to you. This line has amazing products from body wash, to shave care, daily moisturizer with sunscreen, to full on anti-aging remedies. There are so many options!

7. Power Tools

Is your dad a DIY king? Is his army (of tools) looking a little worse for wear? Hook him up with a new set of power tools! These have been a fan favorite all around my hometown. So easy when you have one type of battery for every tool! I’ll be real, I don’t know a ton in this department, but I know my dad and neighbor across the street love and use these quite regularly. A bit pricy, but well worth it.

8. Nest Thermostat

For all of those tired of hearing “WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO? COOL DOWN THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD?” any time a door is open for a second longer than it should. Or “Before we leave this house, I need everyone to make sure we have left the air conditioning at a reasonable temperature [80 degrees], no sense in cooling the house if nobody’s even home.” All of those worries are over thanks to Nest. It learns your cycle of air or heating needs and can be changed from your phone if needed.

9. Tile

Dad will never lose track of the keys right before needing to head out the door again, with this handy gadget attached to the key ring and the app downloaded on his phone, he can always remember where he left them! Have the keys but not the phone? Tile works in reverse enabling him to ring his phone even if it’s on silent. As a matter of fact, I think I’ll get this for myself!

10. Opt for a shared experience

Do something with your dad that either he loves, or you both love. I took my dad to a Carolina football game one season. Just the two of us, and it was so fun! A friend told me about how her and her sisters took their dad to Top Golf and had a blast! Items are nice, but sometimes time is the best gift of all.
